New RefWorks 3.0:
Customizing a Citation Style

  1. Go to New RefWorks 3.0.
  2. Log in to your New RefWorks 3.0 account.
  3. Click one or more references in your RefWorks list to activate the Create bibliography option.
  4. In the white bar near the top, click on the quotation mark for the Create bibliography drop-down box; select Citation Style Editor.
  5. In the search box, type in the name of the style you would like to modify.
  6. Choose Bibliography, Citations, or Footnotes.
  7. Under Reference type, click the last choice Show More.
  8. Select the type of citation you wish to modify, such as Generic or Journal Article.
  9. In the main area of the screen, you will see a white bar with an example of a citation.
  10. Down just a bit is a white bar that lists the fields.
  11. Click on the field you want to remove.
  12. The field name changes color to blue with a small X in the upper right corner.
  13. Click the X to delete the field.
  14. Save the new style sheet.
  15. You will be prompted to rename the style.
  16. When you use your edited style, you will need to search for it using the new name.
  17. please note that this will only change the style for your RefWorks account.

Warning: Known Bug that Affects Some Users:
If the load screen continues to spin after a reasonable amount of time, click on the back arrow in the upper left that returns you to All Documents and then click on Create Bibliography again. In some cases, you may need to repeat this several times before your edited citation style will load.
