Library Observances : Native Amerian Heritage Month

National Native American Heritage Month

November is National Native American Heritage Month, a time dedicated to celebrating the rich histories, diverse cultures, and valuable contributions of Native Americans, Alaska Natives, and Native Hawaiians. The observance is a time to reflect on the heritage and accomplishments of the country's first peoples, honor their unique traditions, and raise awareness about the issues they face.  Designated by President George H.W. Bush in 1990, it serves to educate the public about the history and heritage of Indigenous peoples in the United States.
