For Faculty: Open Access

What is open access?

Open access resources are those with no cost barrier, so anyone can use them for free. Often, they have a Creative Commons license that lets people remix and adapt the content. In the world of academia, open access textbooks and other resources (collectively called OERs, or open educational resources) are used to lower costs for students and to share scholarly information more widely.

To learn more about open access and OERs, explore our Open Access Guide or talk to a librarian.
