Why publish OA?

Increase visibility: open access articles can be viewed by anyone with an internet connection, not just those with a journal subscription.
Promote social equity in scholarship: from individuals to schools to countries, cost barriers limit the ability to learn and engage in scholarly activities. Open access publication removes those barriers.
Required by funding agencies and schools: NIH, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, NASA, MIT, and Harvard University are only a few of the organizations and institutions that require faculty and grant recipients to make their work freely available.
